Homework and Home Learning

At Rokesly Junior School we are committed to preparing children for the next stage of their learning. We believe that by setting weekly homework tasks we help the children to develop habits and routines that are essential for success at secondary school and beyond. The homework set helps to reinforce the learning that has taken place in the classroom, it provides an opportunity for independent practice and it gives parents and carers a chance to see firsthand what their child is learning and how they are progressing. In addition, homework provides parents and carers with a framework for active engagement in their child’s learning.

We offer an after school homework club for anyone that would prefer to do their homework at a set time after school.

Homework is set online each week via Google Classroom. It is set on a Friday and is due on a Tuesday. To access the homework, click on the appropriate year group button below. If you do not have access to a computer, please inform your child’s class teacher.

Each week, your child is expected to complete a range of directed exercises:

In addition, the children should:

  • Read daily (recorded in the reading record)
  • Complete Times Table Rock Stars at least three times a week.

Remember, if you would like your child to go over any topics whilst at home during the holiday, the BBC and The Oak Academy (backed by the Department for Education) offer age-appropriate daily lessons for children.

BBC lessons are available on iPlayer and by using the red button on your TV.  BBC Bitesize lessons can be accessed here.

The Oak Academy can be accessed here.
