Physical Education

At Rokesly Junior School, we aim to provide a PE curriculum that allows pupils to experience a range of activities that help them to develop their: physical and mental health; fitness for a sustained period of time; ability to lead a healthy and active life; well-being and enjoyment of physical exercise in a safe environment. Physical education at Rokesly considers the development of the whole child, physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. All physical education intends to focus on physical fitness, skills and ability, teamwork and collaboration, turn taking, coordination, and celebration of all with the intention of pupils transferring these skills beyond school.

We provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness through offering a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive and non-competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. These activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect, preparing pupils for the wider world.

Rokesly is a part of the Haringey Schools Sports Partnership; pupils are invited to participate in competitive sporting events within the borough encouraging physical development, resilience, growth mindset and positive well-being.

An annual Sports Day is held for pupils to enjoy healthy inter school competition between and across year groups.  A celebration of others’ achievements is encouraged and praise of participation.
