Religious Education

At Rokesly Junior School, in line with the Haringey Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education and SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education) RE lessons will provoke challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. Our aim is to support the spiritual, moral and cultural development of the whole child and the teaching of RE is an integral part of our vision.

All pupils will learn and achieve through an ambitious, coherently planned, broad and balanced curriculum that represents all members of our rich, diverse and inclusive school. Our curriculum has been designed using the SACRE approved Awareness, Mystery and Values syllabus providing the children the time to learn from each other, reflect on their own beliefs and understand morality and right and wrong. Our curriculum aims to develop pupils’ knowledge of a wide range of religions and to consider how beliefs impact on daily lives.

Through the teaching of RE at Rokesly we aim to support the children’s learning about themselves, each other and life in modern Britain through knowledge, respect and understanding. Resulting in them leaving our school as responsible, respectful global citizens.
